Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun is a Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Department of Interior Design Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering of Takoradi Technical University. Rev. Prof. Eshun was born on 28th June 1968, to the late Robert Eshun from Dixcove and Madam Grace Anform from New Amanful, Takoradi, both in the Western Region of Ghana. Prof. Eshun had his basic education at Prestea Goldfields International School in the Western Region. He furthered his education at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) Takoradi, obtaining his GCE ‘O’ Level and GCE ‘A’ Level certificates.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Physics and Master of Science Degree in Wood Technology and Industrial Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in 1993 and 1998 respectively. Determined and focused, he obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Engineering at Wageningen University & Research, Environmental System Analysis Group in the Netherlands in 2012.
Rev. Prof. Eshun started his working career at BMK Particle Board Ltd as the Production Assistant Manager before joining the Takoradi Polytechnic as a Lecturer in 1999. Rev. Prof. Eshun has risen through the ranks of the Takoradi Technical University. He was the Head of the Department of Furniture Design and Technology now Interior Design Engineering, and Building/Civil Engineering in the years 2003 and 2004 respectively. By dint of hard work, he became the Dean of the School of Engineering from 2004 to 2008 and Vice Rector from 2009 to 2013. Until he was appointed the Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic, Rev. Prof. Eshun was the Dean of Degree Programmes.
Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun has made enormous contributions to curriculum development for Polytechnic education in Ghana and has several research papers to his credit. He has presented several international conference papers and has had many refereed papers published in international journals to his credit.
He is a member of internationally recognized professional bodies such as the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), Europe and the International Forest Association, United Kingdom.
Rev. Professor John Frank Eshun provides consultancy services for the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) on Life Cycle Assessment for Environmental Product Declaration of Tropical African Mahogany lumber (Khaya) produced in Ghana.
Religiously, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun is a Lay Reverend Minister at the Lighthouse Chapel International, Takoradi – Anaji Branch and he is married to Mrs. Josephine Baaba Eshun. Prof. and Mrs. Eshun are blessed with four children; Pearl, Peggy, Caleb and Rosemond.
